EXTINCT FILES: GROUND SLOTHS
You guessed it- the Ground Sloth, or Megatherium, is extinct, and lived on the ground, unlike the thriving population of upside-down, tree-dwelling sloths today. They lived around forests near rivers and lakes around 8000,000 years ago, in North America, during the Pleistocene (PLA-sto-seen) period, or the Ice Age.
Was it icy?
Was what icy?
The Ice Age!
Of course!
Oh. I knew that.
The Ground Sloth became extinct around 10,000 years ago. Believe it or not, scientists are yet to discover how the Ground Sloth went extinct.
How can we know what species may join
the Megatherium?
EXTINCT IS FOREVER!
